About Us

Our Story

The Marie James Foundation was established by Bai-Bai Sesay, a respected journalist and son of the late Marie James, to honour her memory and extend her legacy of compassion.

Marie James was born in Kasama village, in the Tinkoko Chiefdom, Bo District of Southern Sierra Leone. A mother of six, she lived a life marked by generosity, resilience, and care for her community.
