Preparations are underway for the launching ceremony of the establishment of the Marie James
Foundation in honour of the late Marie James, who was born in Kassama village in the Tikonko
chiefdom, Bo district, southern Sierra Leone.
It could be recalled that after the death of Marie James, her elder son, the seasoned journalist Bai-Bai
Sesay, who is the managing editor of the Independent Observer and Sierra Update newspapers,
respectively, based in the capital, Freetown, thought it fit to establish the Marie James Foundation.
With support from his brother James Idrissa Sesay, based in the United Kingdom, and sisters in Sierra
Leone, the Foundation is dedicated to carrying on Marie James’ legacy by focusing on various
philanthropic endeavours.
The main areas of focus include promoting education, initiating agricultural projects, raising awareness
against drug use among young people, and providing medical clinics for the elderly, among other things.
The management of the Foundation is calling on indigenes of Kassama and its environs to come on
board to support this great initiative.
The Marie James Foundation is passionate about making a positive impact in the community and its
environs. The Foundation is actively engaged in various projects aimed at improving the lives of
individuals in Kassama village and its surroundings in the Tikonko chiefdom, Bo district, Southern Sierra
Leone.
